Milan Tailors can build your wardrobe
What You Need to Know
Today, “Business Casual” seems to be the norm for many businesses, but you can’t help but notice a finely tailored suit. It’s never a bad idea to wear a great suit, and the best suits aren’t the most expensive – they are the most tailored for your body. At Milan Tailors, our goal is to make you look your best, with the highest quality fabrics, that reflect your body and your personal style. No body has your body but you.
With this in mind, we present a number of Best Practices when it comes to your wardrobe.
Suits
It’s important that you buy at least two single-breasted, two-piece suits. The two-button look is a longtime business standard, but the three-button look has been making several comebacks. It will often depend on your height, as taller gentlemen has a better chance to look good in a three-button suit.
While a black suit always works, a navy blue one is stylistically a better option, as it’ll help you subtly stand out from the professional crowd. Similarly, a dark gray suit (with or without pinstripes) provides a number of shirt-and-tie combos.
Being able to match your suit jackets and pants with a number of shirt/tie combinations will bring great versatility to your wardrobe.
Dress Shirts
A basic white business/dress shirt (breast pocket optional) and a light blue dress shirt will keep all your bases covered. Dress shirts are extremely versatile, and can be paired with suits, jeans, or any type of pants. With our expansive line of fabrics, Milan Tailors can custom make shirts in a wide variety of colors, patterns, and styles. In combination with the minimum suit requirements listed above, you’ll have literally dozens of options available to you.
Pants
Separate dress pants will give you more potential combinations with different colored dress shirts, ties and blazers. Dark gray, black or brown dress pants and a pair of khakis will ensure you have clothing for any occasion.
To the untrained eye, most dress pants look the same. Pleats aren’t for everyone, nor are cuffs, so be sure to ask our experts what style will suit you best before purchasing. You should even try getting measured with the shoes you plan on wearing, to see how they long they should be.
Blazers
Even if you’ve picked up a couple of suits, you probably need at least one blazer too.
As always, stick to brown, gray, black, and navy. Avoid fabrics like corduroy and velvet, as well as tweed patterns. While these can be cool and trendy, they can be a bit too informal for the traditional office — only wear them if you work is less formal.
Brown blazers go nicely with khakis, brown shoes and white shirts; gray and navy blazers go best with dark slacks, dark shoes and a gray, blue or white shirt.
